Abstract:This paper is in the direction of attempts to understand human spatial behaviour at the household level. Although it has not set out to use the spatial and non spatial variables in the development of theoretical structures, neither does it pretend to provide a comprehensive evaluation of all these factors. Specifically, it interests itself in those a spatial determinantsof the household's capability to generate intracity trips and sets out to test a number of hypotheses about these determinants. In this way, it hopes to identify some of the crucial variables that need be incorporated in theories and models of human spatial behaviour as well as in those that relate to the urban spatial structure. Sections Introduction - The data - Households' propensity to travel in Jos - Conclusion. Ref., tables.
