| Abstract: | The historical part of this overview deals with examples of attempts to found on the African coast settlements of African who had been expatriated as slaves: 1) in Sierra Leone and 2) in Liberia during the late 18th and the early 19th century. The linguistic part deals with the development of West African Pidgin English into Krio in Sierra Leone, and of Liberian English and Kru English in Liberia. Bibliogr., notes. |
