Abstract:Examination of the offence of bigamy in Zambia. The author first discusses the law of bigamy in England, then how it was made applicable to indigenous Zambians, and finally the actual state of the law of bigamy in Zambia. He concludes that the offence does not uphold any values in a society that does not discourage a plurality of wives, and suggests to decriminalize the offence and make it civil. Notes, ref.
