Abstract: | This article places recent protestations of respect for the courts of law by the South African government into proper perspective. Reference is made to three recent examples which suggest that the government not only bas a profound disrespect for legality hut also that it is not prepared to trust the courts in important areas affecting the liberty of the subject.
