Abstract: | The provisions of various laws and regulations in force in Cameroon impose the duty to insure against certain risks without, however, obliging an insurance company to provide cover if and when an application is made for it. With regard to compulsory motor vehicle (third party) insurance, s. 6 (2) (a) of Law no. 65/LF/9 of May 22, 1965, calls for the creation of a Central Office of Rates, Superintendence and Disputes (CORSD), whose duty is to determine whether the refusal to insure by an insurance company is justifiable. An examination of the functioning of the Office indicates its importance in the area of compulsory insurance. Notes, ref. |
