| Abstract: | This paper describes the basic health-related needs of the Zulu population in a portion of the Valley of a Thousand Hills in the Ndwedwe District of KwaZulu. The data was obtained in a prevalence survey conducted on 384 households selected in random cluster samples during 1980. In relation to water, it was possible to show a direct relationship between unfulfilled basic needs and the health of the population. The following areas were dealt with: water, food, shelter and sanitation. |
