Abstract: | There is no consensus among students and politicians, particulary in Africa, on the importance of efforts to obtain political and organizational unity in Africa and the role of the Organization of African Unity. The history of the pan-African movement shows that it was only a step in the national renaissance of the continent, one of the ideological steps of African nationalism, today replaced by other tools and means; and as regards the African countries and different organizations, above all of the OAU, their study proves that they were and continue to be an important forum for the discussion and promotion of common matters and that their roles do not differ from organizations and conferences on other continents. Purpose here is to review the evidence in support of the later concept. Ref. |
