Abstract: | The threatened Italian invasion led in Ethiopia to the founding in 1935 of the Ethiopian branch of the Red Cross and the Association de Bienfaisance des femmes Ethiopiennes, later better known as the Ethiopian Women's Work Association. For the most part, however, the Ethiopian soldiers, had to go into battle, as in former times, with only the most rudimentary medical facilities, for the Emperor's army medical service did not exist at all. The medical situation during the Italian invasion and after is described in the sections: The invasion - The occupation: Addis Ababa - The Provinces - Diseases. Ref., table, appendix. |
