Abstract:The objective of this article is to outline the impact that mining manganese nodules from the seabed beyond the current jurisdiction of any particular nation state will have on the economic development of Zambia and Zaire and to examine the response of both these copper mining countries in relation to the international machinery which might govern the seabed exploration of manganese nodules.
