Abstract: | This article focuses on the need to foster entrepreneurship within the educational system in southern Africa. It uses the issue of the changing job scene to demonstrate the necessity of an active and vibrant entrepreneurship programme. It examines the core competencies required of entrepreneurs as recorded in Botswana and reviews a study which examined these characteristics. It then reviews the learning styles of business students at the University of Botswana and considers how the educational system can be restructured to promote and encourage an entrepreneurial culture.
