Abstract: | South Africa's case is not limited to the legal wording of the South Africa Act of 1909. Its claim to possession of these territories is based on six principal arguments: historical, geographical, military security, internal security, economic considerations, and the welfare of the inhabitants of the territories. Before dealing with these arguments in some detail the author summarises the three main arguments on which the British government has to date refused to take steps to transfer the High Commission Territories from British to South African control. |
