Abstract:Zambia has been at the centre of two penultimate chapters in the struggle for the liberation of Southern Africa - the peoples victory in Angola and the resumption of the guerilla war in Zimbabwe - and has also been going through a crisis of economic insolvency and still-born strategies, which have been both the result and cause of its vacillating Southern African politicies. Sections of this editorial: What kind of independent state is to emerge? - A people's state in Angola - The struggle in Zimbabwe - The Zambian state and détente.
