| Abstract: | The Seers Report or the Report of the UN/ECA/FAO Economic Survey Mission on the economic development of Zambia includes the results of an international mission led by D. Seers to Zambia shortly after independence. Aim of the mission: making a comprehensive assessment of the economy and prospects. In evaluating the report, a survey is given of the political and economic context in which the mission took place. After considering the central issues as to economic policy, such as copper production, wages and prices, high-level manpower, etc. these points are evaluated in the light of later experience.
