Abstract:	The author first wrote this book in 1944 with the intention to enable every Etiopian to know t the land tenure and taxation systems of the region of Ethiopia other than his own and to show the great difference between former and present land taxation and the improvement which has taken place in many aspects of land tenure and taxation. In 1955 a revised ed. was published of which this article is a translation. After a survey of the traditional systems (p. 302-25) the author gives the texts of the addresses of Haile Selassie I, the proclamations and legal notices published from 1941-1952 (inclusive) concerning land taxes and land tenure (p. 325-329).
