Abstract: | In origin the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) was an extra-parliamentary party, but at Independence in December 1961 Tanzania has become de facto a single party state. The article analyses the working-method and the competencies of the National Assembly next to those of the National Execution of TANU ant the relationship and division of powers between them. The symbiose between party and administration has already proceded some way in Tanzania. The present situation, whereby the one-party state rests on a basis of voluntary acceptance presents some advantages. |
