Abstract: | North and West Africa has ome of the strangest boundary problems in the world as a result of the circumstance that all boundaries in this region were colonial creations. Half the boundaries are geometrical and they obviously correspond to no natural features. The most serious problem concerning is unnaturalness relates to human geography. This is detailed described in the article just as some unresolved problems and some solved ones. Specialists have suggested ways around the dilemma, by such measures as bilateral agreements on simplified border regulations, of multilateral associations to harmonise economic and social matters. Another solution is to engage in technical discussions during times when political tension is absent, in order to demarcate imprecise borders. |
