Abstract: | The objectives of this study were a) to assess breastmilk intake of infants aged 0-5 months and breastmilk composition from mothers with contrasting nutritional status; b) to assess total nutrient intake and growth of the same infants. Lactation performance of these mothers has been reported in a previous publication (Steenbergen, W.M. van, J.A. Kusin, C. de With, and A.A.J. Jansen, 'Lactation performance of mothers with contrasting nutritional status in rural Kenya'. Acta Paediatr. Scand. 72 (1983), p. 805-810). The present paper reports the results of the second part of that study. Fig., ref., sum. tab. |
