Abstract:This paper examines the historical role of Namibian women in both production and reproduction and considers the present dilemma of Nanibian women in a situation where subsistence production on the land terrorism by South African forces in the north, and rising male unemployment have made women's task of feeding their families and reproducing the next generation a daily nightmare. The destruction of the Nanibian family and the fracturing of male/female relationships are central themes, set in the historical context of colonial oppression and migrant contract labour. Notes.
