| Abstract: | The commonplace 'aid to developing countries' has to be rephrased as 'development co-operation', which presupposes the formal equality of the partners and a universal recognition of just demands. Most African countries recognise the necessity of Panafrican unity in order to achieve an equitable status at the conference tables, though nothing much is done towards unity of action. One of the reasons could be ascribed to the social indifference of the African universities but especially of the African students, who often show indifference and even resistance to social responsibility. As long as this continues, Africa cannnot hope to play its equal part in the 'development co-operation'. |
