Abstract: | The present paper is a summay of a document entitled 'Asmara diversity, a ten year development blueprint 198O-199O' prepared in February 1981. Its primary objective is to provide accurate information, as far as possible, about the Asmara University by tracing its development from its foundation on December 20, 1958, until the present and at the same time to indicate possible areas of future expansion. The author is president of the University and associate professor of architectural engineering and city planning. The development of Asmara diversity IS traced chronologically in phases - 1957/58 -1972/73; 1972/73 - 1975/76; 1976/77 - 1978/79; and 1979/8O and continuing. For each phase things such as objectives, structural organization, admission requirements, student enrolment, academic programmes and curricula, and budget, are described. The paper ends with a summary of conclusions. Diagr., note, tab. |
