Abstract: | This paper sets out to show by way of illustration how in the Bombali District of Sierra Leone in two fallow seasons - between November, 1962, and June 1964 - the local people by their own voluntary efforts constructed nine school classroom blocks, four piped water supplies and approximately two hundred and thirty miles of new laterite roads with permanent bridges and culverts giving an increase of approximately twothirds on all existing roads in the district. |
