Abstract:Apart from Algeria, Nigeria, Libya, Congo, the Peoples Republic of Gabon, and to some extent Egypt, which produce their own oil, most African countries face serious difficulties originating from the increase in oil prices which followed in the wake of the 1973 October Middle East war.
