Abstract: | The discoveries made by the Portuguese opened new visas to progress. Spreading in all continents the knowledge they had, or acquired later about plants they taught other peoples their usefulness e.g. sugar cane, mangos, cotton, fruit trees, rice, cocoa and coffee, which they took from and to the different countries they had under control. Furthermore the author deals with the present state of agriculture in Portuguese Overseas territories. He describes the methods employed to improve cultivation and development of overseas agriculture, such as research and soil conservation. Illustrations. |
