| Abstract: | This study deals with the following problems which face agriculture in Ghana: 1. the extent to which rising prices of food contributed to a rapid increase in the level of the general retail price index in recent years; 2, the changes in the size, composition and productivity of agricultural labour force during the period 1960-65; 3. the changes in the overall level of food production between I960 and 1965; 4. the extent to which private consumption expenditure and food consumption expenditure (in real terms changed in the period 1955-1965; 5. the minimum rate at which food production in Ghana has to be increased in order to maintain the growing population at the highest level of per capita food consumption attained so far; 6. the extent to which the existing facilities for transport of agricultural commodities need extension and improvements.
