Abstract:An examination of the differences in industrial costs and employment between Ghana and Nigeria on the basis of both pairwise comparisons and multivariate (discriminant) analysis of eleven variables measuring employment structure, labour costs, intermediate input costs, and capital costs The main conclusion to emerge is that industrial cost and employment characteristics are closely related to national location, for some similar industries. However, consistent support for better cost performance in Nigerian or Ghanaian industries does not emerge from the analysis. Bibliogr., notes.
