Abstract:Colonial government in Kenya thought it was necessary to provide complete academic vocational education for Europeans, basic literary education for the Asians and Education which involved manual labour for the Africans. In order to make academic education accessible for Africans a number of schools for African education, known as independent schools were set up by local communities in various parts of Kenya. Also Asian communal organisations played an important role in setting up schools for Asian education. Notes.
