Abstract:Revises the article of J. Wiseman 'Multi-partyism in Africa: the case of Botswana', Afr. Affairs, 76 (1977), 302, p. 7-79. According to the authors, differences between chiefs and government have not formed the key conflict in Botswana, and economic growth have been a much more significant factor contributting to Botswana's stability, than Wiseman analysis allows. In this article the authors elaborate these two points. Notes.
