Abstract:After having examined the political situation in Nigeria after World War II, the article analyses the factors behind the formation of the Zikist Movement in February 1946, It describes the activities and the end of this movement in April 1950. The Zikist played a very significant role in the political evolution in Nigeria, because they provided the necessary leadership for the bewildered masses who had been roused to political awareness. The 1951 constitution was morel a result of the activities of the Zikist than anything else.
