Abstract:There are two major African political parties in Angola: Kolden Roberto's 'Uniao das Popula-coee de Angola' (U.P.A.) and the 'Moviments Popilar de Liberacao de Angola' (M.P.L.A.) The deep rift between these two parties has complicated their relationship with the independant African States. The Portuguese have added further to the uncertainty by sponsoring a number of minor African 'nationalist' parties designed to weaken the larger movements. This article set forth, in general terms, the nature of the leadership of the U.P.A. and the M.P.L.A., their following, their political objectives, end their interrelationships. Map; illustrations.
