| Abstract: | The problems posed by the increase of the African population of Southern Rhodesia were: Reserves too heavily populated for shifting agriculture; the countryside denudated o bush; fertility non maintained; erosion evident. Furthermore many grazing areas were over.stocked. The object of the Land Husbandry Act of 1951 was to restore a balance between food production and population increase. The present article deals with the inplementation of the act and the results till now achieved. Illustrations. Ref.
