Abstract:Based on the ecological factor (the method of maintaining soil fertility) two broad systems of small-scale farming may be distinguished in Ghana: the bush fallow system and permanent tillage. On the basis of land tenure the two systems are subdivided. There is thus the need for a third category: the combined farming system. Ref., notes, summary.
