Abstract:Describes the struggle for independence in Egypt from its origin in the second half of the nineteenth century till 1922 when the British Government unilaterally announced the restoration of Egyptian independence. The struggle was partly religious and partly political, in turn led by military officers (Arabi, Nasser), left-wing nationalists (Mustapha Kamil) and moderate politicians (Zaghlul). Bibliogr., photo.
