| Abstract: | The paper is a conglomeration of impressions, hard facts, anecdotes, quotes, statistics, extracts from interviews (that do lose something in translation) and probably the occasional rumour, that attempts to build up a picture of poverty in its different aspects in this upper plateau town of the Cape. The appendix provides a proper presentation of the survey: Aims, questionnaire, the sample, reliability of the results, summary of pertinent results, employment, and migration. |
