Abstract: | If by detente is meant the relation of tensions between the white minority regimes of southern Africa and the rest of Africa, its succes must depend upon the degree to which the causative factors of that tension have been removed. It is the author's contention that the present dialogue exercise between South Africa and those few African countries involved is an exercise in futility. The genesis of the detente issue and the illusory nature of its foundation are examined: The genesis of detente - Rhodesia and detente - Angolas detente's graveyard. Notes. |
