Abstract: | The Italian attack on Ethiopia in October 1935 posed a problem of extreme delicacy for the Catholic: missions and their endeavours in British West Africa. The unwillingness of the Papacy to intervene in the conflict and to take a strong stand against Mussolini, had a great effect on the minds of Christian Africa. The article analyses the responses of West African Nationalists to this conflict. Notes. |
