Abstract: | Over 2000 plotted sightings and over 500 km. of ground survey have confirmed the suggestion that there was 'a vast, semicontinuous cellular network' of linear earth boundaries extending for over 7500 square km. around Benin City in the Bendel State of Nigeria. The purpose of the present brief notes is to provide a comment on the variations of the different regions in which these earthworks occur. The evidence of oral traditions, previous records, recently plotted sightings and ground-surveys for each region will be considered in turn, using the approximated boundaries of the Benin Kingdom as a base from which to draw comparisons.
