Abstract: | The primary business district of Lusaka is located in a position of extreme eccentricity. Six major factors history landforms and drainage agriculture, selection as the Capital and development of a Capital plan, investment, and transportation - have played a role in the creation of this situation. When all factors explaining the eccentric location of Lusaka's primary business district are considered it is seen that the physical landscape played the most significant role. The decision to establish a railway siding on the last bit of flat surface before entering rougher land to the north proved the most significant factor and the others merely enhanced the location of the business district about this nucleus.
