| Abstract: | In 1962 and 1965, a United Nations mission took the first steps towards setting up the framework for a national physical plan, The research described in the present paper arose out of their work but was carried out independently in the Research Department of the Faculty of Architecture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. Its subject is one of the most important aspects of regional planning: the centrality of towns - that is, their relative importance as service as centres. The present study covers the whole of Ghana.
