Abstract: | Essential to the quantification of the output of the semi-monetized economy of Transkei is the choice of a suitable concept of production. Part 1 argues that the structure of the economy of Transkei justifies the application of the Comprehensive Production Concept. Part 2 summarizes the results of the attempted quantification of the Transkei economy for 1980. Part 3 discusses estimates, made within the framework of the 1953 and 1968 United Nations Systems of National Accounts. In the final part, a brief assessment is made of the data with respect to the sources and methods employed. App., tab. |
