Abstract:Although neo-African literature has won the battle for survival and recognition, it has not yet won the battle for judicious appraisal. Most of African critics is influenced by Western critical standards. These critical approaches (sociological - marxist - structuralist) cannot give the full account of any work. It is only by subjecting the work to a variety of perseetives that it can reveal its full meaning: subjectivity in literary criticism may not be bad. Notes.
