Abstract:Description of an experiment in measuring the effect of supplementing the diet of growing children. Examined was the effect of the extra food, in quantity and in quality, on the mental and psychomotor development of the children (600 followed since birth up to the age of eighteen months). The quantity of extra food plays no role in the. development between birth and the age of eighteen months. The quality does. There are inter-individual differences between the infants examined; it seem clear that the real differentiating element is the socio-economic variable. Notes, tables.
