Abstract:This paper represents an attempt to examine the nature and extent of indigenisation policies pursued by African nations. The first section covers the theoretical perspectives and attempts a clarification of the concept and aims of indigenisation in the context of the measures adopted by African countries. The second section contains illustrations with the experiences of Nigeria and Kenya. In the final section is attempted to summarize the case studies and draw out some implications and conclusions from them in order to assess the extent of the success of the process of indigenisation in Africa.
