Abstract: | With constant reference to I. WARD's 'Introdution to the Yoruba language' this paper wants to draw further attention to some points of phonetics and spelling which may be of interest both to the foreign learner and to the Yorubas themselves. (---) From the present discussion of practical problems: the pronunciation of 'unusual' sounds the interpretation of certain tonal phenomena, tone indication and other spellin difficulties some points may emerge that are of more general interest to the linguist. 1.
