| Abstract: | The object of this article is to try to explain how the development of a capital market centred around a stock exchange can provide a major means for the harnessing of capital potential to the proaotion of economic growth; and to do so in the light of the growing importance of the subject fcr the developing countries of tropical Africa. The Johannesburg stock exchange ie of considerable importance in the handling of mining securities as is also, on a smaller scale, that of Salisbury; but throughout Commonwealth Weet and East Africa there are as yet only 2 stock Exchangés - at Nairobi and at Lagos. |
