Abstract:The law in Ghana has never concerned itself much with charity. There has not been any legislation on charities as such. No reported case has been traced on any charitable or other public purpose. And literature on the subject is virtually nonexistent. This article therefore attempts to plead that the legislature should enact suitable provisions on charities. It also considers what rules may be applied now in Ghana. The submission is made that it is desirable to expand or extend the legal meaning of 'charity' for purposes of Ghana law. Finally, some recommendation are put forward for the further consideration of those interest in the subject may be aroused. Ref.
