Abstract: | This paper examines the pattern of career aspirations of a selected sample of university educated youths in Nigerian society. The inquiries took place only shortly before the respondents were to become engaged in their diverse occupational pursuits, and it is believed that their expressed occupational aspirations might be highly related if not identical with their eventual occupational involvements. From this kind of data, it is possible to predict the pattern of entry into different careers, assuming an open occupational and employment structure. Sections: Introduction - Previous studies on aspirations Research design and analysis - Social background characteristics of respondents - Career aspirations of Nigerian youths - Conclusion.
