Abstract:The parameter estimated and discussed here can be described as a coefficient of employment expansion as national product increases, or as an 'elasticity' of employment changes with respect to changes in national products Stricktiy speaking, this is not an elasticity since the rate of employment growth itself is one of the factors contributing to the economy's growth rate. But by formulating the relationship between output and employment in elasticity terms, the parameter, which the author calls E, may be useful in making economic projections for planning and policy purposes. Sections: Estimation of E - Implications of E - Implications of E for Ghana - Conclusion. Notes, tables.
