Abstract: | This paper initially outlines the state of discussion on the role of Private Foreign Investment (PFI) in development and looks at the extent of Malawi's reliance of PFI as a source of investment funds. The Malawi Government's policies towards PFI are discussed and then the activities of one foreign investor (the Sugar Corporation of Malawi Ltd.) are examined in more detail.
