| Abstract: | A short historical survey of Nigeria Airlines since its establishment in 1958 as a joint venture. In 1963 it became a wholly Nigerian government-owned company. Provision of adequate and efficient air transport is still confronted with many difficulties. The tremendous increase in capital investment for airport development and aircraft purchases has not been matched with similar increases in the managerial and organizational capacities of the Nigeria Airways and in the administrative machinery of the Civil Aviation Department of the Federal Ministry of Transport.
