Abstract:The author outlines the form and function of the Booran case system. As the definition of case is, of course, problematic, he is mainly concerned to describe the various syntactic functions which a given case form can take. He assumes that every nominal is marked by one case form or another, and that these forms can be correlated with syntactic and/or semantico-syntactic categories. The main sections of this paper are: Introduction and theoretical preliminaries - Case forms - Phrase-final cases - Co-occurrence relations - Verbal case markers. Notes, ref.
